Palworld 1.0 is here — should you start fresh or keep your old save?

Palworld's long Early Access run just crossed the finish line, and the full 1.0 update has arrived with new islands, fresh Pals, and more story content than the survival game has ever had. If you've been away for a while — or even if you've been grinding daily — the question is simple: should you keep your old save or roll a new one?

The honest answer is it depends on what you want out of the reset. If you're attached to your base, your army of Pal-workers, and your late-game gear, the old save still works. The new zones and Pals will be there to explore. But if you've been away long enough that you don't remember where you left your lifmunk effigies, a fresh start gives you a cleaner experience. The early game has been rebalanced somewhat, and starting over means you'll hit the new content at its intended difficulty curve rather than bulldozing it with a maxed-out mount.

The short version: there's no wrong answer. The old save isn't bricked, but a clean file is the smoothest way to experience 1.0's pacing. If you're on the fence, maybe fire up a new world for a session — you can always switch back if the nostalgia hits.
