Usopp is telling the story in Lego One Piece, and yes, he's absolutely going to embellish it
If you thought the live-action *One Piece* was already a slightly ridiculous version of the story, wait until Usopp gets behind the wheel. Netflix just dropped the first full trailer for *Lego One Piece*, an animated special that premieres in September, and the whole thing is framed as the sharpshooter himself recounting the Straw Hats' adventures. Which means, yes, everything is going to be bigger, louder, and way more dramatic than it actually was.
The trailer shows the crew in full brick form, with Usopp literally narrating over the action — and if you know Usopp, you know he's not big on letting the truth get in the way of a good story. The special is apparently a comedic retelling of the live-action series, which already condensed the East Blue saga into eight episodes. Now imagine that same arc filtered through the guy who once claimed to have fought 8,000 pirates. It's basically *The Princess Bride* if Westley were a compulsive liar and also made of plastic.
We don't have a full runtime or cast announcement yet, but the trailer makes it clear this isn't just a re-skin of the live-action — it's its own goofy thing with Lego-level slapstick and exaggerated character expressions. If you were a fan of the show's tone — earnest but never taking itself too seriously — this looks like a solid addition rather than a cash-in. September can't come soon enough for anyone who wants to see Zoro get lost in a brick maze.
